Yes, I've heard of such a thing. It's not really the kiss she died from, but the herpes transmission.

When I was 6 weeks old, my parents made a big patry for me at their home. My aunt brought her daughter who was 9 or 10 at the time. While there she related to my mom that her daughter had just been diagnosed with strep throat! My aunt thought it no big deal because her daughter had started antibiotics the day before 
My grandmother picked me up in 1 arm and a bottle in another and carried me to my room where I stayed the rest of the day. Most people thought she was being over protective my my grandmother never backed down and really barked at anyone who even breathed upon my future siblings when they were babies.
I guess we can never be too careful. That poor family.

I have a cold sore, too. I know this is horribly ignorant, but what's the difference bet a canker sore and herpes?
