If you are gonna give him water it is better to use tap water if you live in a place with safe tap water as bottled has salts added which is very bad for the babys kidneys.
As mentioned above if you are exclusivly breastfeeding it isnt neccesary and if you are bottlefeeding you can give some extra water on the side and to repeat what was already said abve again, dont add water to the formula.
