my daughter was just diagnosed with a grade 2 vur
anybody ever heard of it?
from what I understnad is that her urine goes up instead of down and there fore can go to kidneys and infect them.
the dr gave me 3 choices how to deal with it
1- put her on medicine in order to prevent urine infections
2- not put her on medicine and take urine test once a month and catch the urine infection right away
3- go to a specialist and deal with it even though the dr said its not a bad case and he can handle him but I think I would go just to get a second opinion

What does vur stand for? Could it be reflux? It sounds like it might be. I had that as a little girl and had continuous utis. When I was about 7 or 8 I had an outpatient procedure done to correct the problem and have had almost no utis since (except for the beginning of my pregnancies, which probably doesn't count). You can go for a second opinion, it can't hurt. Urine backing up into the kidneys can't be a good thing, and you really don't want her on antibiotics long term.
