Ask her how much she takes.
I would say around $5.
(My 13 year old neighbor asked for $4, I gave her $5. But I heard that most girls take much more, so I suggest you ask.)

Another 15 year old neighbor of mine asked for $6, and I gave her $7.
Hope you can get an average here, so you know what to pay her Smile

If that's the case, I would give her 5 and if she proves good then raise to 6.

I would give like $6.
But isn't 12 a little young to be babysitting? Or am I just overprotective?

I'm with you- I prefer 11th graders and older even if the kids are asleep....every now and then a responsible 10th grader (15 yrs old) but that is my limit..whats nice is that in our town there is a baby-sitter's course that teaches the girls what to do in case of emergencies etc.

Our babysitter usually gets 6-7/hour, but we give her 8 because she's the daughter of our close friends. Also, we plan to give her more next time because she's excellent. I pay my latina cleaing lady 12/hour (I know it's a lot, but she's also excellent), and what this babysitter does is more important (watching our dd), plus she's a frum Jew, so when I compare the rates from that perspective, I feel the babysitter deserves more. Plus, it's just a few hours now and then, so the 1 or 2 dollars more per hour won't break the bank.

Thanks everyone, but in the end I took him with.
He looked like he was going to fall asleep, but then 10 minutes before I was supposed to leave the house, he sprung up like a jack-in-the-box and started jumping & dancing & singing. I saw it erally is like one of his typical nights. So I decided to take him with me.
I just got back now, and got him back in pj's, and believe it or not, he will prob. still be up another ½ hour or so.

Anyways, the reason I decided to use her is bec. I always have a hard time finding a good babysitter.
I know this girl, and I think she's responsible enough. DS knows her very well, so IF he would wake up, he wouldn't be afraid. She lives one flight up from me, and if there's an emergency, CH"V, her mother is right here.

For sleeping kids, I give a high school girl $7/hr, $8 to a post high school girl/12th grader & my nearly 13 yr old neighbor gets $5 from us. It sounds cheap but if the kids are sleeping...
