I would love some opinons on the name Malka.

What do you think of it? We might make a nn of Molly.

For boys we love the name Zachariah or Eitan. Opinons?

I love names that are distincly Jewish but can also be used in the secular world. For example my older DD is Leah. Any other names (boys or girls) that fit that bill?

Malka is very nice. It's also short and doesn't need a nn imho... and if it needs one, I find Molly very artificial (and rather old ladyish)... I hear Malki is very used in America but then I would already prefer Molly...

I love Zachariah (Hebrew only, not in English) and Eitan (same).

Other names that are the same or almost in Hebrew/Yiddish and English:
sarah, david, ida, s(h)imon, israel, roza/roze, naomi, bella, tanya/tonya, sasha, amalia, aaron, ariel, deb/vorah, lea, (c)hanna, alexander/alexandra

Names that have gotten trendy:
Noa (girl), Noah (boy), Eitan/Ethan, Noam (boy), Kayla, Shayna

The only problem: many Jewish names are butchered in English and sound really horrible. You'll have to correct people again and again (or grin and bear it).

I like both names--Eitan and Zacharia. I know 3 frum people who have kids called Zach.

Malka seems simple if you're really worried about a name that could go easily in the secular world.
Other names that I like--which are very phonetic are:
Zahava, Ariella, Elana, Tova, Rachel.

But honestly, I don't think it really matters--it's not like it used to be--not everyone in this country is named Amy or John. Every culture has names that get butchered that I personally wouldn't worry about it.
I've taught children named Antanje and Maliqwar--

All wonderful names a child could easily live with IMO. And if there are any zeidies or bubbies who inspired those names, that's something nice too.
