Does anyone have a real haimish recipe for sweet gefilte fish?I need something excellent that even if you ate it plain it would be delicious. I want something that also has a good stock (sauce). Thanks!

I know this is from a while ago but I'm bumping this up - this is exactly what I need right now!

Google "classic gefilte fish recipe Jamie geller". The recipe is spot on. You can use regular carrots and add 3 cut cloves of garlic.
If you like it really sweet, add 1/3 cup of sugar. But I find that between the sugar in the loaf (depends on the brand you buy) and the uncovered cooking method, the fish is sweet with just 1 tbsp of sugar.

I fill an 8 quart pot halfway with water, add about 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 tblsp kosher salt, minced onion, 2 stalks celery, 2 carrots, some garlic powder, a pinch of pepper- bring to a boil, add gefilte fish and cook for 1.5 hours until done, I save some of the zaft ( broth) and serve with the fish, if you like you can reduce it to make it thicker. if you put some carp bones in it will jelly a little- this happens by me only on erev rosh hashana when I add the fish head into the pot..... Enjoy
