I ate this once by a friend. I think it maybe had nuts in it. Anyway, I want to make it for shabbos, but the friend isn't home and I need to buy the groceries I need. It was crunchy, I don't remember if it was from the cabbage, or perhaps there were nuts in it? It had a sweet-ish type dressing.

Does anyone know what I"m talking about? Please help a pregnant woman make her craving for shabbos :-).

Thanks.

I make it without nuts (due to allergies), but others make it with almonds - yum!

so what's in it besides cabbage (and can I use a regular head, or do I have to use the bagged stuff) and craisins? What's in the dressing? DH volutnteered to shop, but he's going in 20 minutes, so if I need to buy stuff, I need to know . .. thanks so much.

Is this purple cabbage? Because the KBD cookbook has a delicious recipe like this one in it- off the top of my head, it calls for purple cabbage, shredded carrots, scallions, mandarin oranges, craisins and pine nuts. It has a sweet dressing. Does this sound at all what you were looking for? I can post the recipe later, if you'd like.

You can use either fresh or bagged, but bagged is easier.
It has:
bag of spinach
sesame seeds
slivered almonds
craisins
chopped scallion
chinese noodles if you want

The dressing has:
1 c oil
3/4 c sugar
1/4 c red wine vinegar (I think, it might be balsamic)
2 tbs soy sauce

I might be a little off with the soy and vinegar mesasurements.

Enjoy!! Yum!!! My mother makes this almost every week.
