crust:
2/3 cup vegetable shortening
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
some paprika
garlic powder
black pepper
put in food processor and slowly add
1/2 cup ice water (no ice - just water)
press down into a 9" round disposable aluminum pan - pulling up to sides - poke bottom with fork and edge with fork around circumference
on bottom of crust layer sliced orange cheddar cheese
in pot cook broccoli with dash of salt - put just enough water to cook but not boil or over cook
in fry pan - saute chopped onion & 4 chopped garlic cloves in olive oil
add saute to drained broccoli ... add
8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
5 beaten eggs
black pepper
garlic powder
put into pie crust and bake for maybe an hour (dunno how long - I tend to put lower temp 275 for longer [1 1/2 hrs] cause of the toaster oven)
(you can add saute mushrooms on top if you like)

I think she means the prepared pastry crusts, which are found in the freezer.

I think she means frozen ones made with shortening, etc (oronique makes I know -- they're dough, not graham cracker that comes on the regular shelf...these need baking)

you can buy a frozen dough pie crust ... the graham cracker one is for sweets ...
but it takes 2 minutes to make this dough and I never roll it out ... just use floured fingers and press into the pan ... voila !!!

I know this is from a long time ago, but how much broccoli do you use? I have a 2 1/2 lb bag of broccoli that I just boiled. It should make at least 2 8 inch rounds. Can I double your recipe for it?
TIA!!

it's that time of year ...
to those of you who ask about measuring - I don't really measure I just cook ... but if I wanted to make 2 quiches and only had a certain amount of broccoli [or anything else in limited quantityfor that matter] - I would most likely start by splitting a double recipe into 2 along with said broccoli and add extra eggs as needed to fill the pie shell
also one of my yummies is to add hot cayenne pepper to the pie crust as well
