I went to Border's today & bought Putumayo Presents Israel, a selction of Jewish sounding music and artists. Does anyone have any other music to recommend? Not the usual Mordechai Ben David or Avrohom Fried; I want something different !

Seriously, I don't think I know anything newer than 15 years ago.
Is Kol Achai still putting out new recordings?
There's a whole slew of Jewish a capella artists like Beatachon. You could swear they're playing instruments, but they're not.

I pretty much hate all music Jewish. That's why I'm looking for someting "different". No Shmecki and no Lipa.

How about some nice Israeli "frum" music like Chaim Yisrael or Gad Elbaz or Itzik Eshel? They have beautiful, catchy, not so Jewish sounding music but with some inspirational messages in the lyrics.

why don't you listen to jm in the am. He has a lot of MBD and Shwekey but he's fairly eclectic and you could get a fair idea. Music is so subjective, however. What Jewish or non Jewish music do you tend to like?

oh and you can listen to music samples of the artists people have mentioned at mostlymusic.

... these are not your typical "shiny shoe music" and they're really great! You can probably find some of it on itunes, too.

Dina Storch the composer of "someday we will all be together", "daddy dear"... just came out with a cd - the singers are avrumi flam, yehuda!, dov levine...

almost all the songs are english words...

it's really a beautiful cd and I highly recommend it!!

Wow, a woman after my own heart! I have musical training, and like almost everything except the typical Jewishy music. Whenever my DH and kids listen to it in the car, I cringe.

The Israeli Jewish music sits ok with me, have you tried any of that?
