Is there a website where I can get proper guideline about what skills are supposed to be achieved at which age level?

Try looking at this chart - I can't vouch for it as it doesn't come from a published OT source, but it will give you a good idea of what your child should be doing and when.

It says: 3-3 1/2 YEARS
can get himself dressed/undressed independently; only needs help with buttons;

at what point should I start teaching him how to do the buttons himself?

Try it now! You'd be surprised what he can do if you just shpw him how it gets done, assuming he doesn't have any fine motor delay. My 3 yr old can button, most of the time.

I think you are confusing developmental milestones with OT goals. OT goals are usually "my childs issues" and how we want to diffuse them, correct them, enhance the abilities, etc.

What are the therapists saying?
