Woud you recommend a Garmin or a Magellan?
What are the pros and cons?

neither!
I would go with the tam tam
Affordable, easy to use updates are easy to get.
Found the garmin to difficult to use and not as easy as tam atm.

We have the garmin nuvi. I personally prefer it over the magellan. I think it's easier to use.

we had 2 magellans (maestro 4250) & a garmin nuvi (265w I think?) - just ordered another maestro, I found it easier to use & fllow.
in case u r wondering why so many gps units - dh keeps leaving them in the car - gps+car+nyc=very happy "goniff"

I'm thrilled with the Garmin. The traffic feature is my most important feature.
