Dont want to hijack the thread, but if u just keep it plugged in, but dont really need it all day, try using a tea kettle & check ur electricity bill. U'll see a MAJOR diff.

Back to topic, vinegar does a great job.
Good Luck!!

Vinegar. Citric acid. And yes, there are chemicals too.

if you're in israel, there is a product callled meisir even made by durgol that works wonders. it may seem to you to be expensive - but its not because you can use it 5-10 times and keep pouring it back into the bottle and will still work.

sorry if I don't sound too bright but, do you keep it plugged in with the vinegar or are you saying to just clean it out with the vinegar- I tried cleaning mine with vinegar, buildup wasn't bad, but it didn't really clean anything.

You need to boil it up with vinegar. When you store it during the week add about an inch or two of vinegar and then put away.

You boil it with vinegar/citric acid, if the limescale is heavy you need to leave it on a while (sometimes as much as overnight if it's REALLY heavy). MAKE SURE you rinse them well, and boil up fresh water once or twice to get rid of the smell.

thanks, my buildup isn't bad, although I relized I left hte water in since last week (we didn't use it this past Shabbos) I will try putting vinegar later and letting it boil, truth is I haven't been using it because it takes a whole day to boil- but htey are so expensive I can't justify getting a new one now, so I just put it up early friday morning. thanks!

mimsy, you put the vinegar in with out boiling it and then store it away?
