how long does it take for hair to grow back? Does it grow slower when we're older?

hair is healthier when trimmed - so a cut can make it grow faster ... although you are correct in as we age the growth is slower ... unless you're like me and it just grows & grows & grows ...
let's say an inch a month - if it's healthy ...
so how bad is it - and what can you do to fix it - till it gets where you want ... can't walk around with a "bad" haircut - or is there no alternative ...
nu - so how bad is it ?!?!?!
