why does everybody always want the best for the cheapest ... does it occur to people that good quality comes hand in hand with time and money ...

I have to assume you're talking about your customers. everyone loves a bargain and likes to feel that they got "a great deal". also they have no idea what goes into the job. "what do you mean $75 to trim my hedge half an inch? not like you had to cut it two feet!" umm, lady, the work is in how it's cut, not in how much was cut, and in fact "trimming" half an inch can require more skill than cutting half a foot.

Stand firm, greenie. show them the going rates for construction work. tell them "you get what you pay for." you have to eat, too.
