any ideas how to best organize my shoes? do I keep them on shelves or just on the floor? with boxes or without?

I got hanging shoe racks which we drilled onto the inside of our closet doors. I can fit a pair of shoes in each slot.

I'm an organizing nut. I used to love shoe boxes, but b/c boxes are diff sizes it's not as neat as you'd like, and I don't like digging around to get to a bottom box. and the idea of putting photos of the shoes on the outside is not practical if you get new shoes often.
I think shoe shelves are the best, you can line up your shoes so neatly. I have them on the side of my closet and it works great. I put boots on the floor under the bottom shelf- the first shelf is 18 inches off the floor. I have 3 shelves, about 2 feet long each. I can hold about 15 pairs of shoes not counting the ones on the floor.

I have a friend who has gazillions of plastic shoe bins with a clear photo of each pair taped to the box so she can see all her shoes. They are organized by color, style and season. Her closet is the size of my daughters bedroom!

Niiice I also have a million pairs of shoes . The shelves sound so nice and neat. Rite now we hwve storage Unser our beds I keep ALL my shoes there! Accept for the ones I wear on a reg basis I keep those in a flat big draw.
