My shalach manos is in the "theme" of apples (apples, and apple flavored things, apple chips, etc)

so, what's the connection between apples and purim? anyone? I need some wild imagination here.......

thanks!

How did you decide on an apple theme?

Green apples, like Vashti's face?

because I decided to make the hamentash apple-turnovers that I read about on this website, and I NEED theme, I cant go to the store without knowing what I can/can't get - theres just too much stuff out there that it gets overwhelming.

they're sweet - and the gezeirah was "sweetened" and turned into a yom tov.
how about "happles" - happy apples?
they grow on a tree - and haman was hung on a "tree". (borei pri haeitz - 'cuz haman's on the eitz).
"an apple today keeps moroh shchoirah away"
besides, it's nice that people will get some healthy stuff between all that junk!

mali, healthy? - there's an apple, apple chips, apple turnover, applesauce, applejuice box and apple flavored sour sticks. is that healthy?

the apple is.
apple chips are healthier that potato chips.
apple turnover we won't discuss.
applesauce is healthier than pudding.
apple juice is healthier than coke.
and, well, apple flavored sour sticks, um Confused I guess they're better than taffy.

Chocolate is made of cocoa beans and we all know beans are a traditional dish in persia? maybe they even served it by the partys mentioned in the megilla?

One year we did all chocolate and the kids dressed up as chocolate too, but not cholov yisroel, they were hershey's.

I didn't read the post about the turnover recipe, but I'm doing apple turnovers too, with a little paper saying "venahafoch hu..." I think I'm just going to do the turnovers and a mini bottle of vodka. I'm also going to try to add a picture of my 2 yo dd wearing her costume standing on her head.
