I'm going to London , iyh chanuka for my cousin's wedding.
I was thinking of flying to manchester from london, to see my sister...
the train and planes seem to be the same price.
however, BA and Elal are in 2 different terminals,
do you think that lluggage would go straight through or is it best for e to take it and re check it in? and what about on the way back, I heard that any flights you came off before boarding elal, you haveto go through teh elal security and recheck in...
so what's teh best solution?

Inbound (TLV-London/London-Manchester): since London is the first port of entry, you must go through passport control and pick up the luggage. There's no through checking luggage to the final destination EVEN if you're on the same carrier.
Outbound (Manchester-London/London-TLV): BA is notorious for not through-checking luggage to other carriers (except for OneWorld alliance carriers). In any case, I highly doubt you can through-check from ANY other carrier to El Al, obviously for security purposes.
Fly vs train may depends on which part of M'chester you're going to. Train station is more convenient if you need to get to northern manchester but southern M'chester is closer to the airport. Within LHR, you'll need to take a connecting train (free of charge) so it takes a bit of time to make connection between T4 and T5.
