oh 20 grand sounds reasonable for sure.

I don't keep a yom tov budget. I budget everything else, but for the holidays I buy what I need and buy more as I need, but try to keep it within means.

Sounds like the girl who told me her parents bought her a $24,000 car and paid for it up front because they don't like having to pay things off. You know what kind of people do that - the ones who have the money and nothing else to do with it!

All Yidden should have money and use if for good things!!

20,000 doesn't sound so much for a hotel.

And I can't imagine my mother makes pesach for 1,000.

That is the cost of her grocery order (maybe). NOt including, chicken, meat, fish, and hardware- paper, plastic....

With a normal amount of guest for the seder, chidren (a large family k"h) and grandchildren you can't make a peasach with out a few thousand dollars.

That does not even include new clothing, shirts, shoes, robes... And some extra help.

In all of those calculations, don't forget airfare. Bringing the kids home from yeshiva, or for those who do go to hotels, airfare or even driving is really costly. Hotel goers also pay a lot in tips and for clothes to bring.

Parnasa is -------[can't think of the English word) on Rosh Hashana. EXCEPT the expenses of Shabbos, Yom Tov and tuition. I try to keep this in mind when I see the Pesach expenses piling up.

Those of you that are spending under $1000 - how exactly are you doing this? I do not yet have a large family, and am not having that many guests (approximately 1 family, 2-3 singles per meal) and just my meat was over $500. This is without fish, chicken, shnitzel, fruits & veges, etc. Please give me some tips on how to save!

Pesach IS a very expensive Yom Tov. Meat, fish, matzo, and wine are really expensive, even before you buy anything else. If it's your first year home, it's all new pots, pans, etc...
Anyone spending under $1000.00 please give us advice on how to do that Exclamation

I would love to know how to only spend $1000. We can't budget. We just buy what we need & I don't over buy.

it's probably just a matter of where we live and what kinds of families and seders we have. I live in nyc, am having two small seders with only 4 people plus my husband and me and a 1 year old, bought a new set of pots and pans, and maybe spent $600 tops with more than enough food to last even after the holiday. I don't have any tips, I just probably don't need as much as other people at all.
