Sorry if this doesn't belong here but I really need help ASAP. Over the past 2 weeks I've been wearing a new necklace that I was given as a gift from my mom in law.
It's a pretty thick necklace and yesterday I noticed a thick black ring around my neck that I can't get off. I guess my skin had a reaction to the metal in the necklace. Soap and water is not working. Even rubbing hard is getting me nowhere.
I hope somebody has some ideas. I have to keep wearing the necklace to cover up the ring, which is probably making it worse, but I'm too embarrassed to walk around without it. I don't have any other necklaces that are nearly as thick to cover it up.
Look forward to hearing advice from all you lovely ladies.
Thanks!

1. Don't you own any turtleneck tops?
2. Apply something oily like baby or salad oil or cold cream. Let it soak in for a bit, then wipe off with cotton or tissue. Repeat if necessary. May not work but won't do any damage.
3. If you can afford it, take it to a jeweler and have the necklace made longer so you can wear it under the collar of a blouse.
4. Or ask the jeweler about applying a clear lacquer finish, but be aware that lacquers do eventually discolor and/or flake off.

use clear nail poliosh on the jewelry, and a loofa on your neck.

Thanks for all the tips - I'll try them.
As far as turtleneck tops - the weather here is warm - it might look a little funny, but thats a good idea until this tides over.
