Everytime I take my 3.5 yr old daughter somewhere to play she always wants to take home the other person's toy/doll.... This is accompanied with yelling, crying... How do you deal with this? How do you stop her from crying & not give in? It's so embarassing & such a horrible reflection on my dd & me!!!

I agree with Tefila. Others will judge regardless, however they probably will judge negatively if you give in to your toddler's tantrums.

The Toddler's Creed:
If I want it, it's mine.
If I give it to you and change my mind later, it's mine.
If I can take it away from you, it's mine.
If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
If it's mine, it will never belong to anybody else, no matter what.
If we are building something together, all the pieces are mine.
If it looks just like mine, it is mine.
If it's broken, it's yours.

Can't you try to prepare her beforehand or just tell her simply we cannot go to so and so home b/c you just don't know how to give back when we have to go. I"ll tell you what if you promise to be nice and show me next time how well you listen perhaps I will let you take your fav doll /toy too with us.
