When it clumps it means that its time to get a new one. You need to change them every 6 months

When it thickens in the tube it needs to be replaced. When it's clumping on your lashes and it's a relatively new tube, you need to remove the excess first on a tissue.

To quote the PP, it means you have too much on the wand. "When it's clumping on your lashes and it's a relatively new tube, you need to remove the excess first on a tissue."

As you pull the wand out of the tube, press it against the inside of the tube's lip to remove excess product.
You can also blot it with a tissue to lessen the amount of product that will be on the wand's brush.
This has nothing to do with being old or new. It usually occurs when the product is very thick.

After applying mascara you take a clean eyelash/brow brush and you brush your eyelashes just like you put on mascara, this will declump & fluff your lashes. You can use a brush from an old mascara.

Get a better brand. I had this problem until I stopped getting drug store brands. Sephora and Buxom don't have this problem (among others).
