I am considering getting a prepaid credit card as a Bar Mitzva Gift. Can A 13 year old use a Credit card? I would put his name on it.

I would check with the parents of the child to see if they would want a thirteen year old walking around with a credit card.

It's prepaid though... so there's no "credit" really.

Yes its really not a credit card (Although it acts like a credit card and is through visa or mastercard) I want to put $50 on it and he can go to a Seforim store or Electronics store to purchase what he wants.

Oh, the ones my kids have are my accounts. They just have cards with their names on them.
Garfield for DD and Mets for DS.

So it would be ok, but I would ask anyway...
As for credit cards... some kids definitely can, others... NO.

Anyone that already has a credit card can easily get cards for their children. It's billed to the parent, but has the kid's name on it (although, oftentimes it's a completely separate card, and the bill is in the child's name).
I could open up a credit card for my dog if I wanted.
