Just wanted feedback conc age. I feel maturity plays an important part too. Since a kid might be ready age wise but maturity are they? And how can one tell as far as wether they are mature or not?

At which age are you referring to? Are you asking if I would let my eight year old babysit under those circumstances, or is it my 12 year old? my 14 year old?

I used to babysit my siblings at a very young age. My parents would go out for an hour or 2.

I just started letting my 13year old sister baysit my son while he is up. Today for the 1st time she she babysat my toddler and baby together with both of them up.
if I am desperate I would get my 11 year old brother to babysit only while my son is sleeping
they have my mother next door in case of any problem-

I would let my 2 year old babysit my 1 year old while I'm in the bathroom or have to run downstairs for the laundry. he's actually a very good babysitter!!!
but if I wasnt home I'd say age 10 for no more than an hour if the 10 year old is mature and able to handle whatever kids are at home.
at night when kids are asleep I'd think a 10 yr old would be scared to be alone awake at home.
at age 12 I babysat for other kids for long stretches of time. it really depends on the kid. I think in the us they have a law saying what is the youngest age a child can be left at home without a babysitter. maybe age 11? dont know.

Yael if your'e signed on as amother then why did you sign your name 
I let my 2 yr old babysit whilst I am in the washroom not more then 10min but my older boys babysat at around 11yrs I think boys are diffrent girls are more mature by 10yrs so it depends

That is really true. That is why girls have their bat mitzvah at 12 and boys have their bar mitzvah at 13
