I'm sure you can use almost anything in any general recipe -- a different type of meat or soy/tofu product...but what is the case specifically? You might even be able to skip that ingredient all together...

Are you trying to make bacon without making bacon? Or is it part of a whole recipe?
MorningStar Farms makes some breakfast strips/patties that I think are kosher, but milchig and not cholov yisroel.

the recipe requires bacon strips cut up and fried a bit, I think it adds flavor. so since I cant use bacon I need a substitute for it, but im not sure what would go. I think I saw some fake bacon made by some company, but I dont remember where I saw it and if it actually was kosher. also the fake kind could be bad since its probably not real meat. so can I use other meat, like I dont know pastrami or something else?

Fakin Bacon and the like was nasty. I've tried a few types.
If the dinner is anyway fleishig, I'd use some pastrami I think.

I also just saw something like that, I believe it was a soy product, it was OU pareve in Pathmark. I forgot the brand name, it's the same people who make the soy hot dogs. Don't know about the taste though.
Bluma G , do you know what kind of meat Rubashkin makes its bacon strips from?
