Well, my aunt told me once that the family originally came from Regensburg in Germany. That was about 200 years ago - does it count?

My husband considers my father a yekke. Does that count?

My father was born in Germany to a family of Galitzianer descent - what does that make us?

My grandfather comes from frankfort-am-main. In fact his mother was a Kulp, who were a very well known family in Frankfurt. (They are mentioned in one of the Marcus Lehmehn books)

So I am exactly one 1/4 yekkish. But my maiden name was very german. My parents became lubavitch, so we are like the joke: Q. What do you get when you cross a lubavitcher and a Yekke? A. Someone who is always exactly5 minutes late.

Well, if you'd have asked someone before the war, they'd have called you Ostjuden (not a compliment Sad .) Nowadays, fortunately, people aren't so hung up on where your family came from.
