This is a topic that has always fascinated me.
It is stated in the Talmud that this world will exist only until the year 6000. Being that we are now in the year 5771, that equals just a little more than 200 years left.
Of course, Moshiach can come any time before then.
But this is like our equivalent to the Mayan's 2012. Except I don't believe in that one. 
Thoughts?

How do you know the Mayan 2012 won't coincide with Moshiach?
I'm not quite sure how literally I take the 6,000 years thing. I haven't learnt it in depth enough. I actually have no clue where it comes from except learning it in school without a source.
