I teach 7th grade boys, (this is the first time -- I usually teach girls) and I usually pull some purim shtick on my class on rosh chodesh adar. the things I've done with the girls seem silly for the boys (like dressing up and pretending I'm a substitute from the deep south or any other weird accent) -- any ideas?

not sure-
Maybe come in very strict- tell the boys to clear their desks and take out a pen/pencil and that you're going to be giving a "pop quiz" on a topic you've been working on. hand out papers and tell them in a very strict tone to keep them faced down until you;ve asked them to turn them over, you can then tell them to turn it over and it could say- It's ROSH CHODESH ADAR- LET'S CELEBREATE (or Be B'SIMCHA) get your coats from some extra play! only needs to be 10-15 min but you'd make a mark.

I have an idea. Get a picture of Matisyahu, or Shweky, or whichever singer the boys are crazy about. Crop the face of the picture, and blow it up the size of your face. Tie 2 strings on the side so you could wear it like a mask. Walk in one morning with the mask on, and play that singer's music for the remainder of the class.

I could start with that -- but I'd need something else. they're expecting something more spectacular.
Yups, thanks for your idea but they are not really into singers much, other than boruch levine who actually is the sgan menahel in the yeshiva, so no big deal. wouldn't impress them.

ok, so how about you take a picture of a boy in the class, and make a mask out of that. Then take a picture of yourself and make a mask for that boy. So you be the boy and the boy will be you! Only tell that boy, and when the class starts, you will be in that boy's desk, and that boy will walk in as the teacher. If I would do this I would have a timer and time it for like 5 minutes so it doesn't get out of hand with the boy being the teacher. Then throughout the month you can have different boys get a turn to wear your mask and be the teacher. It can be something that they earn. Kids absolutely LOVE playing teacher!

I know this thread is super old, but I searched for purim shtick ideas and this came up. Did you end up finding something to do? I'm looking for something for my middle school aged class too.
