I have NO CLUE where to put this but figure this is as good as any.

So I found there are lots of areas in my life I want to work on. When I think about them I get overwhelmed and then can't start any of them.

So I am making a conscious choice to work on changing ONE thing at a time. And sticking to that ONE thing for two weeks. My understanding it can take up to 6 weeks to change a long standing habit, but I'm going to do my darnedest.

Please join me in picking ONE thing you want to change and doing it for two weeks.

To give you some examples of things on my list:

- eating breakfast
- bringing lunch from home
- taking the meds I am supposed to be taking
- speaking in a calm voice
- washing negel vasser by the bed
- saying more then just brochas and shema at least one day a week
- going for a walk one day a week - just to be outside
- complimenting my immediate family members every day
- expressing gratitude with hand written notes once a week

etc. etc.

Right now I'm focusing on bringing lunch from home. It's day two and I'm already wishing I could buy lunch! Part of doing this is taking the time to examine why I am so resistant to making a change in a particular area (I admit alot of it could just be laziness!). I know I am resistant to change in this area because I often want a "hot" lunch, because in my mind a "hot meal" is a sign of caring, and I want to feel cared for. I discussed this with my DH and we agreed to purchase good thermoses so that I can bring "hot" lunches with me to work.

So who else is in?

I'm in. I'll work on taking my vitamins every day. I really feel more energetic when I do, but for some reason, hate taking them!

Great list - but pick JUST ONE to work on for the next two weeks. Which one? I suggest starting easy so you can get the sense of accomplishment!

Im in on the bringing home-made lunches.
its so much cheaper and easier but I guess im lazy and cant be bothered to prepare it.
Today was the first day...and I made exactly what I usually buy - tuna sandwich on wholemeal roll with toms and lettuce.
Doesnt taste half as good as bought - I guess that $4 I saved will go to something better!
Hope I can keep it going...

Great thread!!
I'll try the davenig one. I've been trying for a while without success though.

I just thought if you promisse yourself a treat ( I don't mean candies Wink ) at the end of a successfull two weeks it might help you reach your goal.

You don't have to do something from my list - it's just a list of things that *I* want to work on for myself.

What do you want to work on for yourself?

Maybe I should have gone with something easier, like mountain climbing, cause G-d is really challenging me with bitachon....

I don't recall who said this- It is easier to learn the whole ( something big, maybe Shas? ) then change one midah.
