Momoftwins those are completley kosher what is the difference of the tarp verses the canvas sukkahs that are sold for a fortune? there are people that build one themselves with wood it takes time though but comes out much cheaper.

my dh baught from home depot wooden beams, drilled them together, then we bought from walmart big sheets, we stapled them into the beams.. and had a beautiful suka. my dh spoke to his rav for exact details to make it kosher, we had to add a beam on the bottom... but you bet it was CHEAP.

Why isn't that kosher? The sukkahs that people buy are made from those materials.

My sukkah is made from polls and tarp and it's definitely 100% kosher.

seven, what's the #?

we don't have storage space; I need something that collapses or rolls up.

If the walls move in the wind it's not kosher. You can firmly secure them to make it kosher, but that's why many people prefer wood. Check with a rav. Just because someone sells something (like anything else) it doesn't mean it's OK. In Israel there are people who sell non-Kosher succas like that, but I think the walls can be secured and made alright. Ask your LOR.

Considering that nearly 95% of my community uses the tarp sukkahs, I'd hope that if they're not ok, the Rabbi would make a statement saying so.

I've never heard that about wind and walls, but being that I've seen sukkahs fall down in a tornado, I would wonder about that............

so, 7, were you just playing with me? you know money's tight and I need a sukkah! that wasn't fair!
