My new neighbors seem to always have a lot of people around, and they often make simchas, Baruch HaShem!

We were invited for dessert, but it ran late so I got to see what they served:

Garlic bread which looked homemade
Green salad with dressing already on it
plain boiled noodles
meatballs with sauce
Various sodas
Plain chocolate cake for dessert
Various flavors of tea and hot water passed around in an urn

They moved their furniture which must have been a pain. They put out just regular folding tables andchairs, with plain plastic tableclothes on them.

They served on plain plastic white plates with the cheapest cups and disposable forks, too.

Just goes to show ya, ya don't have to fuss and make yourself sick, it was a simple and perfectly nice affair!

I liked my backyard BBQ sheva brachos more then my formal in restaurants ones. Don't get me wrong,I had a great time at all of them, but there's nothing like simple and laid back affairs.

We made sheva brachos like that for a friend. She didn't have any money and her family was unable to help her. We made spagetti and meatballs, drinks, garlic bread, dessert, and a fruit salad. It was very nice and heimish. The whole thing cost around $100.00, split three ways it was very reasonable and turned out very meaningful for the chassan and kallah. I think most people can't afford big sheva brachos and don't want to be put out.

I made 2 sheva brachos for 2 of my friends that got married within a week of each other. I served the same thing for both: meatballs, borekas, franks in blankets, chicken wings, pasta salad, mashed potatoes, and sushi, with cut up fruit for desert.
