Need ideas for end of summer vacation?

we have an oppurtunity to go away without the kids for about 5 days in the end of august...we want to fly somewhere ...any ideas... bahamas was an idea but it will be too hot...has anyone been to alaska? or any other cooler temp vacations? no cruises...

San Diego-zoo, sea world, legoland-I might be wrong but I don't think it gets too hot there
