When you pack the boxes, mark them with what room they come from, and be sure that when they arrive at the new place, you put them RIGHT into that room. This way YOU won't have to shlep and you can unpack one room at a time, almost.

Seforim? In boxes.

If you have a mover moving your stuff, mark the boxes, and keep a list to be sure that everything gets onto the truck and then everything gets OFF.

pack any books in smaller boxes as they can get very heavy. for glasses, go to a liquor store and get empty wine boxes-these will separate and protect the glasses w/o having to wrap them.
if you can get colored stickers, put one color per room-ex: white stickered boxes go to kitchen, blue to master bedroom etc.

How much time does it take to pack a small 2 bedroom apartment? Does it make sense to start packing early and have boxes sitting around your house?

it took me a few days to pack my 2 bedroom apt. to move into our house. I was 9mos pregnant too.
if you're organized, it shouldnt take too long.
I had no kids at that point though...now it might take double the time with DD running around and "helping"!

what you can do first are the seforim. that saves time, just make sure to keep out the ones you will need til you move...incl. machzorim etc.\

also, fancy dishes, glasses, and serving ware etc can be put away first if you plan to keep things simple by using paper goods during the hectic moving time.

lotsa luck Wink

Pack seperately in a small box your kettle, disposable plates, bowls, forks, spoons, etc.... Also some cereal, etc.. Basiacally everything that you will need that night and the next morning. Also pack your nightware stuff and clothers for the next day seperately. If you have kids also pack their nappies, bottles, comforters, etc.. Basically anything you will need that night and the next day pack seperately.

Also arrange with a friend or relative to cook you a meal for the night. You will need it at the end of the day a nice warm meal.

Good Luck and enjoy your new apartment.

Is it better to get tupperware big containers from a gemach, or get cardboard boxes from your neighborhood store?
