My children are such light sleepers, that I’m losing my mind. When they get older, it gets better but currently my baby is just making me nuts. I already have a white-noise machine and it helps somewhat. She will wake up if I cough in the hallway near her room! I too, am a very light sleeper so I don’t’ expect much more from them, but still! I just wonder if it’s not something else, something other than physical. Perhaps diet? The mattress? Who knows!

I think you just have to train them. My two older kids can sleep thru almost anything, the baby is getting better.

Miriam, how do you train them?
My kids are also light sleepers (as am I). I'd love to help them sleep better.

My kids are also Very light sleepers. (again, just like their Mommy... DH can sleep through a hurricane...).
But, everyone says it's my fault, because ever since I bring them home from the hospital, I'm constantly ShuShing everyone when they're asleep.
They say, if you train them to sleep through noise when they are newborns, then they will do it also when they are older...
Who knows?
