I've tried telling her nicely & I've tried the harsh way (yelling & light slapping) & I've also tried not telling her a word but pulling her hand out of her mouth but NOTHING seemed to register in her mind not to do it anymore... As soon as she stops crying (if I yell etc.) she does it again! I have it approx 3X day.. I hafta change her whenever she succeeds...

Is this familiar to anyone??? Will this pass really soon? Whomever I mentioned this to, never heard this of a baby...

Ps, she's never seen anyone doing it before...

My youngest who is now 3 used to do this every night at supper. I think it started when he put his hand in his mouth once and he was sick. Then every time the other kids saw him doing it they would start shouting and then he would do it EVEN MORE! He also used to throw up if he got really upset - if he fell over, or if I shouted. (I have a 6 year old who used to do this also). They don't do it any more. I have a friend whose kid used to throw up on demand for attention! I am sorry I don't have a magic solution for you. Probably the best thing is to hold her hand down whenever you see her trying to do it, and not make too big a deal about it when she does throw up - clean her up without a fuss, don't say anything... good luck they do grow out of it eventually.
