And what you would like to incorporate.
One thing I will always remember is that My mother always had time to listen no matter what, even all of our mishegas.

My dad always encouraged us to aim high in everything we did, be it school, work, sports, etc. and to do it with integrity. Never be satisfied with mediocrity. And don't let the fear of failure hold you back, either. It's okay to fail in the attempt but it's not okay never to try.

Now that all of you are grown up and mostly have kids, and are now being aware of parenting challenges..
I "dare" you to find and think of one thing they didn't do for you .

My mother always had time to listen to me or play with me.
My dad taught me things about his family, how to do this or that, good advice...

My mother gave me the ability to notice everything in life and love my suroundings.
My father gave me the desire to experiment and understand how and whythings worked. My poor mother, I was always taking things apart and eventually putting them back together (not always inw orking order)
Flip side my son does that to me now!

I have a younger brother who is in Kindergarten this year- My mother mentioned to me that he was crying one night because there is a certain toy in his classroom that he never got to play with because it is such a popular toy. so my mother drove him extra early 1 day (instead of the school bus) so that he could be first in the class and stayed with him till the morah came so that he could have some time alone to try out the toy.
When my mother told me about this, it triggered a memory of when the same thing happened to me in kindergarten and my mother did the same thing for me (I even remembered which toy it was!) When I told my mother this- she told me that she did that at one point with each of her kids (all 6 of us) and she was shocked that I remembered it- It brought her much nachas to see that I remembered it and appreciate it now.

she would take walks with us, good for health, and that was the best to get us to talk when we needed to.(as teens.)
she was happily the class mother and would volounter for class trips and the sort. I was always proud of her when she'd come!
