my 5 year old daughter has yellow discharge on panties & complains that it itches down there. She's had this before- it lasts a few days & then goes away. What can it be?

Sounds like a yeast infection. Ask your dr how you should treat it. He may prescribe a cream or medication to stop it reaccuring.

but if it's a yeast infection would it go away by itself & then come back after 2 weeks again?

Yeast will come and go, and it is aggravated by sugar, and bread (with yeast in it).

So, if it is itching, and it goes away, she may have some candies, treats/Shabbos, etc, and it will come back.

Make her have a yogurt every day. And make her baths warm, rather then hot, and don't let her sit it in for too long.

Yu can put some vinegar in there, too.

even better then yougart-asidolphysis (sp?!)/vitaplex. they sell it in powder form and you just mix it in to any food or drink-has no taste. helps keep yeast balance in body.

If it continues, take her to a doctor.

thanks everyone. I really appreciate all the advice. I took my dd to dr yesterday & she gave me nystatin RX for twice a day for yeast infection.

The dr didn't mention it, but since mother48 recommended the asidolphysi (copied your speeling cuz no idea how to) I asked the doc if she thought it was a good idea & she said yes.

I dont know why the dr didn't mention it first but thanks so much mother48- you're better than the doc Smile

That what my boys got for their yeast infections in the area - which looked like red pumps mostly.
