Are there any other women here that are bored at work?
I am a bookkeeper/secretary/office manager in a one girl office and I literally climb the walls everyday. I do whatever has to be done pretty quickly, leaving me plenty of free time just sitting at my desk. Any suggestions of things that I could do to keep myself busy (besides imamothering!)?
Note: I do not want to be laid off, so I have to look busy when my boss walks by...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can you download ebooks?
Can you make your grocery list, shopping lists, keep your bills up to date?

an ebook is a book you can buy online or borrow from the library online.
you can reorganize files....go through storage drawers, redo inventory of cups and forks and things.
I always found a lot to do, even before ima mother!

There are times when I'm bored at work and times when I'm so totally overwhelmed. You have a computer with internet, right? There is so much you could do online... make a list of favorites:
-imamother
-shopping (not just food, clothes, books...)
-learning
-news
-email (keep in touch with old friends... write long letters)
There's so much to do for YOURSELF... and you're getting paid for just being there!! Please, take advantage of the time--- so many of us wish we had such an opportunity!

yes, that is a very bad idea, if you tell your boss this, he will think of letting you go. you need to look busy, the boss has to see that you are doing something. I actually think that you should do your work slowly stretch it out for the day, try not to finish it too fast, because if the boss sees that your done and your just doing nothing it can be a bad thing too.
spend some time in the morning before lunch working, take your lunch break and then work some more, and the last maybe hour or half hour do something else.
