Jersey Care Advantage

I am due iyh in 2 month and I really need to plan what insurance the baby will go on. I have horizon bcbs of NJ but if I would put the baby on I would have to pay the difference as my employer only covers the employee. My husband pays out of pocket for his insurance. We dont qualify for Jersey Care but we could get coverage under Jersey Care advantage which would cost $144 a month. The copays are $5 and $25 for a specialist, to put the baby on my horizon would be about $200 a month and copays are $30 and $50 for a specialist along with a $2500 deductible.

My husband is concerned that with Jersey Care Advantage we wont get the best doctors and we will have to go to clinics or something. I am not familiar with Jerseye Care Advantage I tried calling to get information but they could only tell me what I mentioned above (obviously they arent going to say the drs are good/no good, etc.).

I am wondering if anyone else has their children covered by Jersey Care Advantage and if your happy/not happy if there are a lot of doctors who accept it, etc.

just call all the dr.'s you are familiar with and might want to use. Ask if they take this insurance - you probably have to choose an HMO .. if they accept it then it is a good insurance for you.

The problem is idk what the process is as far as applying for Jersey Care Advantage, but it sounds long and complicated. I only have 30 days to put baby on my Horizon plan otherwise I have to wait an 18 month period to be elligible. So I need to make a decision sooner than later. I will iyh be a first time mommy so I am not really famliar with pediatricians in lakewood area.
