I bought this dvd at Mostly Music, I'm only 1/3 through and I LOVE it! Has anyone seen it? I think it should be 'required watching' for people who are iignorant or misinformed about chasidim, especially. I am truly enjoying it.

The guy who made the film is Menachem Daum. He also has another documentary called "Hiding and Seeking". Here is the description from Netflix: Quote: | In this compelling documentary from the directors of the just-as-riveting A Life Apart: Hasidism in America, a father takes his grown-up Orthodox Jewish sons to Poland to teach them about the perils of putting up walls to keep those they deem dangerous outside. After he introduces them to the Polish family who helped their grandfather during the Holocaust, they discover the value in building bridges. |
I saw this when it played on PBS as well, a good movie to watch.

I saw watched the video last summer. It was very good.
There were so many interesting things in it. It's funny that earlier today (before I read this thread) I was thinking of how the only picture/film footage I've seen of the Frierdiker Rebbe smiling was on it.

They have a random shot of my grandfather walking down a street in flatbush at the very end of the movie. He's not remotely chassidish! LOL!

I saw this movie when it came out in the theatre in 1997. I think that it was done very nicely and portrays chassidishe people in a positive manner (for the most part). I have recommended it to non-frum ppl.
