We are traveling to the US this summer and I'd love to bring back some gifts for DS who is almost seven and going into second grade. He always complains there are no good (boys) toys in the house. Preferably I am looking for things he can play alone.
We have tons of Lego and Clicks, small plastic soldiers, and some palymobil knights.
He's not crafty at all, will occasionally play with the soldiers and playmobil, loves sports (soccer) but is not so interested in playing Lego or with the clicks.
What kind of cool toy or game can I bring back for him, reasonably priced and not too large or heavy?

My 6 and 8 year old DS's don't really play with toys - unless its with the baby. The latest craze on my block is gedolim cards. We own a wii and that keeps them busy indoors.
A while ago we got the game rush hour. Its a game that you play on your own. They have easy cards and more challenging cards.

As PP said Rush Hour -- look at the Think Fun line of games in general. There are some really good ones.

Perplexes/brainy maze are great for this age. Might be a bit bulky to take back with you though

Kanoodle is a great game for solo play. My son same age loves it. Very brainy though
