Yesterday I left soup on the stove and fell asleep (I had a migraine), my kids were also sleeping. I woke up about an hour later to the whole house filled with smoke. The soup was seriously burnt. I opened up all the windows but it only got the smke out. The apartment still smells of smoke. Its really cold outside and I don't want to leave the windows open for too long. Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

put a pot of water on the stovetop and add cinammon, cloves, orange peels... and let it simmer...

But have a timer going so THAT doesn't burn out!

hmm I was imagining the smell of cinamon
maybe a fan for a few minutes with doors and windows open for same few minutes. Also - did you clean the burnt pot? cause that would help too
