my 8 month old throws tantrums. if I have to take something away from him or even turn the sippy cup so he can drink better, he screams and throws his whole body. is this normal? he's only 8 months!!!! and he's been doing it for a while, I only just labeled it as a tantrum now.
what can I do about it?

At that age there isn't much you CAN do about it. Ignoring it seems to work best for us. I try not to reinforce such behavior by reacting to it and there is no reasoning with a baby.

I hope it passes soon!

now he is almost 12 months and he's still throwing the tantrums. I just ignore it though. there really isnt anything I can do. as much as I try I cant get him to calm down, so I ignore and he'll stop fairly quickly.
I suppose its just his temprament/ personality.

if you need to restrain the child so he wont run away then do it, but otherwise, if they wont listen to what you are saying, just let him cry, and take a deep breath, count to ten, and say to yourself, it'll be over soon. and try not to feel too embarrassed. it happens to the best of us.
if the child is still young distraction works well, just today I had to do it many times. Levi was kvetching and refused to walk, so I asked him in a sing song voice as we're walking to the car, where is the car? where is the car? right away he started to look for it. we'd point to each car and I'd ask him is this it? nooo, this one? noo... etc.
