I cannot get my son to take his meds without a knock down drag out fight, but he does not get it.. If he does not take his meds we have to go back into the hospital Sad

I am so scared the neighbors are going to complain because he screams at the top of his lungs

what form is it in?

I know that one of the meds I gave my son came in a soluble form. Meaning I could just slip it under his tung and it melted quikly. I used to do this early in the morning so that he wasn't that aware of it.

first it was liquid form, but he complained about that..

So the doctor gave me a pill form that I can crush, but he still claims to taste it..

give him a popsicle before he takes his meds, and afterwards, or ice to suck on, it will numb his taste buds.

Belvidere Pharmacy in NJ, will compound your drug into an form that'll work. Lollypop, ices, suppository, any flavor liquid etc.. You name it - they'll do it!

Good luck.

mitzvahmom...happyone has a good idea.... I looked into compounding my sons meds into a different form. It may cost you extra money. Talk to your docs about it. Find a way that will work for you and your son. Look up in the phonebook for pharmacies that compound meds. It must be scary for him to be sick and having to take meds. hatzlacha

Grape juice also drowns out very strong flavors. I was the most matzliach with burying whole tablets in cherry-applesauce and spoon feeding it. then, keep stuffing spoon after spoon into his mouth rapidly until he swallows it. from the fast action of open, attempt to swallow and close, it eventually slips down.
