I have a laptop and I am giving it to someone for a few days but I have a major problem I go to some websites and I don't want that person to know about it. Is there any way that I could delete by the address toolbar these sites so she cannot see it.

hmmm. for one, you can delete the history..
is she the kind of person who would go through your stuff?

Also, you can make another user account, and set yours to only open up with a password.. and only you should know the password..

that should do it.

the address toolbar only holds a certain amount. You should try to visit a whole bunch of other sites and have the new ones replace the old ones.

Also delete temporary internet files and cookies from internet options.

Thanks healthymom

Thats a good idea. Do you know how many addresses it holds at once?

How do I delete temporary internet files and cookies?

If you're using IE, go to Tools, then internet options, and delete cookies and delete files.

You should be good to go. But if you don't want the person to see you visited this site, for example, you should clear everything (including the history) one more time before you shut down.

if someone REALLY wants to know what you're up to they can use a data recovery program and get EVERYTHING, I mean EVERYTHING back. they can do it on an external drive and use your computer as a piggy back. This can be even be done to recover data that has been erased and trashed! Assuming your freind has no such intentions, do not worry. However if whenever you throw out your computer make sure to physically destroy the hard drive (burn it/smash it)!

Data recovery systems can do surgery on hard drives, so I think that even a smashed hard drive can be recovered..

If you go go Internet explorer tools, advanced options, you can choose not to have inline autocomplete.

theres also a program which costs money, but maybe pays to invent in it.

it's called evidence nuker..
good luck!

Yes, almost everything can be recovered, but is it worth their time?

Make sure you delete your temporary internet files and cookies
Do Control+H to see if anything else is left.
Also do Tools > interne options > Clear History

To triple check if nothing is left, manually find the folder for your files, and check that it should be empty,. By default it’s at:

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Cookies

I don't think she will go that far to recover the websites. (She's not this type)
I deleted the cookies and all the websites got deleted.
