I dont have Blumenkrant's book, so those of you who do, please tell me:

1-is styrofoam ok for pesach? (plates, cups etc.)

2-Paper towel rolls that I am planning to use for handling food-is there a specific brand that is ok to use?

3-parchment paper with a hechsher- is it ok for pesach?

thanks so much!!!

I called the vaad here about buying styrofoam soup bowls and they said that it was OK. I know that Rabbi Blumenkrantz OBM did not hold of styrofoam but our local vaad disagrees with him and allows it.

I recently heard that you can use any paper towls as long as you don't use the first 3 sheets and the last 3 sheets (becasue of the corn based glue on them). Styrafoam is ok (if you use styrafoam in general). Also, paper plates without a plastic coating should not be used at all, and those with a paper coating can only be used for cold.

the Chicago Rabbincal Council Passover Guide:
http://www.crcweb.org/index.html

The OU Pasover Online Guide
http://www.oukosher.org/index.php/passover

The best guidebook is the one put out by Agudath Israel of Illinois by Rav Shmuel Fuerst. I know it's late for this year, but if you call you can probably be sent one next year (I know this is not for everyone on this forum, but for those who accept Rabbi Fuerst's pskaim, it's great. It has sections of products and kashering- I think from the CRC book- but also about shaimos, toiveling, traveling, bedikas, seder shiurim measures, etc)

there also something on the star k website.
star-k.org
just type in pesach in the search box.
but all styrofoam is ok as long as u use it in general, as someone said before. there are some ppl that dont use it during the year.
also the crc chicago crcweb.org has great information as far as paper goods and toiletries that are all fine.
this generation seems to love chumrot but really a lot of things are prefectly acceptable
