There are so many therapists, you gotta meet them for a session or more and see if the two of you 'click'.

I think a big part of it is how well the two of you click. Another factor is, what are the issues involved? And what do you hope to get out of therapy?
If you are a deep thinker, and like to get to the root of problems you might do well with a therapist who is skilled in psychodynamic techniques. If you want to learn coping tools, without getting to the root of the problem you may do well with a therapist who has experience with cognitive behavioral therapy.
Consider whether you need to work with someone who is 'warm' and caring. Though most t's are caring, not all of them have the same varemkeit...
