Savta and Saba would like to get a magazine subscription for the kids for channukah. My local Jewish bookstore doesn't carry very much, so I don't know what's available. One for the older kids (middle school), and one for the elementary set.

What do you know about these ones?

Zman?
Spotlight? -- that's like a Jewish highlights, right?
in another thread someone mentioned "Comics" magazine? Anyone know about that?

Are there any other ones to consider? Also, contact info (phone number or email address) would be helpful.

My dds 8-10 love Spotlight.

Zman is an adult magazine, but some high schoolers enjoy it. Some of the topics covered are a bit heavy.

The adult Jewish magazines - Binah, Ami, Mishpacha come with good kids magazines, but I think you'd have to buy it together.

Binah (Binah Bunch), Mishpacha (Mishpacha Jr.), and Ami (Aim) all have kids' magazines included in their subscription. Binah is a women's mag. Mishpacha and Ami are general interest magazines and include a women's magazine in their subscription price as well.

Zman is intended for an adult and teenaged audience. I like Zman. Many middle schoolers also enjoy it. Primarily male readership.

When we had a foster son, we bought him a Jewish comic book subscription a few years ago. It was in English but I think is Israeli-based. I can't find it on a web search. Maybe someone here has current info.

Zman is not just for teens. I know younger children who read it, but as a parent you may not be okay with younger children reading some of the subject matter (the occasional bank robbery, murder, fraudulent coroner, etc.).
