OP, I can relate. I was lucky enough to be in a job, but I really wanted to leave it and find something new. I started applying for other stuff. From my first interview to when I finally got an offer, took A YEAR AND A HALF. literally, 18 months. On this last one, I thought, if nothing comes of this, I'm giving up. B"H I got an offer in June.
What I can say, is even if it's demoralizing, keep going on interviews, because the more practice you get the better you will get at it. The first time I went on one it had been so long I'm sure I didn't come off well.
By the end I was smooth, I had so much practice!

Also: I did not find LinkedIn to be useful. What did help, was subscribing to job search sites that would send me lists in email of jobs that matched my search terms. And I read every single one.
