My mother just really scared me. Our 1-year old underweight because he barely eats and I'm desperately trying to wean him. My mother told me this could mean he'll be a very short man, like 5 ft. Somebody please make me feel better about this Help

Baloney shamoney no offense Twisted Evil
My preemie was 2.5lb, 3 months early and only 13". Now at the age of 16yrs without meds he is 5-10" almost as tall as my 17 yr old who is just heading for 6ft. Sure I had trouble getting him to eat, never mind n appetite in the early years but it did happen Smile . He is solid NOT fat b"h Wink

Baba maaseh for sure.

My 3 yr old was 8 lbs 15 oz at birth and 21 inches I think...definitely no teenie weenie baby and now he is 10% in height and a skinny minnie...

You absolutely cannot go by their baby size!

It's all preprogrammed in the genes. Unless a baby is significantly malnourished (which your dr would tell you if there was a malnourishment problem for medical reasons - like not absorbing fats properly), then he will be what he will be.

My DH was also very small when he was little. He was very small in HS, and everyone was very suprised when he ended up 6 ft 3!!! As long as they are being fed properly, they will grow according to their genetic programming!

My preemie is short but 2 of his brothers are also short. One brother is BH 5'9". The preemie on the next block, (26 weeks gestation), is a zeide now BH and is one of the tallest guys in shul. (no we do not have a shul for short people)
