every morning when I open my computer a windowa pops up saying:
you may be a victim of counterfeit software.
what does it mean?

Nothing should be popping up on your computer like that. Sounds like you have a virus.

are you connected to the net when you log on? then this may just be one of those annoying advertising popups. close the window when it pops up, then go into your internet options and blcok popups. if it happens before you actually connect to the internet, then call Tech Support.

Do you have antivirus software like Norton or Kapersky? If so make sure the settings include viruses and spyware and do a scan. A good antivirus will prob catch it and neutralize it for you.

actually this sounds like the popup from windows genuine advantage. does the popup look like this?
microsoft released instructions to remove the program on their website, but it doesn't work for all versions. you can also block the notifications with a firewall.
or you can update to a genuine version of windows.
